This needle is used to punch hair into firm foundations such as silicone, PU, rubber...etc.  Punched hair is inserted into the foundation to give the appearance of individual strands of hair growing from the scalp.

Simply turn the needle face down where the small groove is on top of the hair strands.  Slide the needle over the hair in a slight downward angle and pull the needle out again.
